Gregory (Greg) Charles Porteous
May 23,1951 ~ June 21, 2021
It is with deep sadness that we announce that our brother passed away peacefully (at Riverview) at 5:27 p.m. with his sisters by his side.
He was called home by his mom and dad; brother Ray and many other relatives.
Greg worked hard to the best of his abilities, he had several jobs in his lifetime. He worked at Honeywell, Winroc and finished his career with the City of Winnipeg Parks and Recreation at Kildonan Park after 20 years.
Unfortunately, due to Covid family and friends did a drive by for his 70th milestone birthday.
Greg enjoyed classic movies, music, playing and watching golf, the Jets and Bombers. He loved playing pool with his cousin Lloyd and playing cards and was great at cribbage. For those that knew him he had a great sense of humour and was a real jokester. He was kind and caring. He enjoyed the simple things in life and this is a good reminder to everyone.
He leaves to mourn his sisters: Sandy (Tony), Val (Kevin), Maureen, Deanna (Aurele), Karen (Don) and Donna (Danny) along with nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, family and friends.
We would like to thank everyone who cared for Greg. His cousin Lloyd and Gayle who always made time to visit with him and Guy and Beryl. Thanks to his homecare worker Kathy for going above and beyond, 3E Palliative Care, Dr. J. Elkin, and a special thank you to Dr. Homik for his personal phone call to our brother, it meant a lot to Greg and his sisters.
In keeping with Greg's wishes, cremation has taken place and a family gathering will take place at a later date. His ashes will be spread over the area where he grew up at 527 Winchester Street in St. James.
We will miss your teasing already Greg, but will get back at you when we meet again one day.
